Welcome to Designastone

With a background in art and music, a degree in graphic design, a comprehensive training in Cathedral stonemasonry and with a love of rock climbing and natural stone, Nicholas Bragg has an inbuilt affinity with, and an appreciation and understanding of the medium in which he works.

His ability to produce anything from a tracery window to an abstract sculpture makes him confident that he is able to provide anything you require.

During the period of his formal apprenticeship at Worcester Cathedral he attended the York Centre of Vocational Excellence for Stonemasonry, and also trained at the Cathedrals of Gloucester, Lincoln, Winchester, York and Canterbury.

He has been awarded the City and Guilds Medal for Excellence, and, amongst others, the Peter Moore Masonry Award and the York Consortium for Conservation and Craftsmanship Award.

He produces a variety of work including sculptures for private settings, stonemasonry for new buildings, conservation and restoration, detailed architectural stone carvings, garden pieces, signage and monumental work. Nick enjoys making anything from three dimensional abstract sculptures to more functional work such as birdbaths, sundials, seating, house name plaques and headstones. He generally works to commission, mainly in limestone, sandstone and slate.

The individual stone creations can be bought from his workshop in Earlswood, various galleries, exhibitions and seasonal craft fairs around the UK.
